Founders and principals Lila (Bird) Hurwitz and Daniel Doolittle are lovers of great design, epic room-filling music, travel, eccentrics, and smart people who tell it like it is.
Lila is an organizing maven with over 30 years’ experience. She was Associate Director in charge of communications at Artist Trust, and Administrative Director and Co-Artistic Director of Dance Art Group, which produced the internationally-renowned Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation from 1994-2011. Lila designed Contact Quarterly magazine for 11 years. Her ability to see the big picture and make quick decisions comes from her broad experience as a graphic designer, event producer, professional dancer and Feldenkrais® Practitioner.
Daniel is a marine geologist and a patent-holding roboticist with 25 years’ experience in scientific research and technical communications. A published author in major journals, he’s an expert at using words and images to convey complex ideas to large audiences. He was a designer and builder at a Denver-based industrial design and manufacturing firm, and keeps a foot firmly in the design world. He has been lucky to go to both Antarctica and the Arctic more than most.
