Founders and principals Lila (Bird) Hurwitz and Daniel Doolittle are lovers of great design, epic room-filling music, travel, eccentrics, and smart people who tell it like it is.
Lila is a communications maven with over 25 years’ experience. She was Associate Director in charge of communications at Artist Trust, and Administrative Director and Co-Artistic Director of Dance Art Group, which produced the internationally-renowned Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation from 1994-2011. Lila designed Contact Quarterly magazine for 11 years. Her ability to see the big picture and make quick decisions comes from her broad experience as a graphic designer, event producer, professional dancer and Feldenkrais® Practitioner.
Daniel is a marine geologist and a patent-holding roboticist with 20 years’ experience in scientific research and technical communications. A published author in major journals, he’s an expert at using words and images to convey complex ideas to large audiences. He was a designer and builder at a Denver-based industrial design and manufacturing firm, and keeps a foot firmly in the design world. He has been lucky to go to both Antarctica and the Arctic more than most.
